Resources to Support Your Research Needs & AI Literacy

We subscribe to more than 50 databases & research tools, many of which are college-level resources. A comprehensive list can be found on this page. Scroll down to find your subject of interest and expand the tab to explore.

    TAS Faculty Assistance - Who to Contact

    Please contact the K12 eResources Librarian for support with the following e-reading & e-research needs: 

    • You or your class would like to learn how to use eResources for research or reading (databases, AI for research, citation generators like Noodletools, ebooks, magazines & newspapers,  library catalog, and other electronic resources); 
    • You would like a one-on-one session to learn how to use AI to support your own or students' research;
    • You or your students are interested in registering for an account with any of our subscription newspapers & magazines;
    • You are personally interested in reading eBooks & wonder how TAS libraries can support your adult-level reading needs. 
    • You would like a one-on-one session to address specific research needs in furtherance of your own college-level coursework; 

    Please check with your divisional libraries for all other services and materials related to your classroom's reading and research needs.

    School Subscription AI Research Assistant:
    • scite.ai  (Faculty and students register with their @tas.edu.tw email address and your own password to create an account).

    Streaming Content for Teachers

    Licensed Streaming Resources

    • Alexander Street  Alexander Street has some decent educational content with documentaries, speech recordings, movies & news. (Video quality varies.)
    • Kanopy - Stream Classic Cinema, Indie Films, and Top Documentaries. Once you select a film to view, the entire school has rights for you and your students to watch the film remotely or in school for the entire year. 
    • Indigenous Taiwan information (includes links to videos)

    Notes about streaming Netflix documentaries & content from other commercial media companies

    • Netflix allows educational screenings of certain documentaries. Check Educational Screenings of Documentaries (netflix.com) for more information.
    • Netflix "...will permit one-time educational screenings." One-time screening means that you can't hold screenings several times in one day or one week, but you may show the titles once a semester over multiple semesters.
    • The University of Michigan summarizes information about streaming from HBO, Disney+, etc.  
    • Netflix, Disney, HBO, and other mainstream entertainment streaming services do not offer subscriptions to libraries.
    • It is not legal to screen with your personal account in the classroom.
