Why use the Internet?

If a chosen research topic is a current one, or if the research involves gathering perceptions and attitudes toward a current topic, event, or concept, then the internet and social media may be a strong source for information. When using the internet, there is a greater responsibility to personallly evaluate the source and content of the information found.

Google Scholar https://scholar.google.com/
Google Scholar searches openly available and web accessible scholarly articles, abstracts, and other types of information. There is an overlap between Google Scholar and the library's databases, but full-text access is not guaranteed. If  individual articles are available through the USIC or as free resources to all, there will be a link to the right of individual results.

[Form: Evaluating Sources]

Internet information is diverse, so the bits of information needed to cite that information are diverse as well. Inasmuch as possible, identify the type of informaiton first--journal article, news article, original web content, etc., and gather that information as if it were in print. Finally, add the site infromation information and date of access.

For more on citing Websites, see the Citation Styles Guide.
